A dream has come true for a mother-daughter baking team, while a downtown casino renamed its bar to honor a dark era in U.S. history. Also, Las Vegans have another place to buy shoes on the Strip.

      The Cookie Bar

      The Cookie Bar opened a brick-and-mortar location last month at 3455 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, after operating online and as a pop-up shop. Owners Wendy and Jennifer Baumgartner previously sold their alcohol-infused treats at farmers markets, First Friday and local festivals.

      The mother-daughter team raised the money they needed for their store by winning a national crowdfunding contest.

      The Cookie Bar is open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends.

      CenturyLink opened its sixth valley store earlier this month at 6592 N. Decatur Blvd., Suite 110, Las Vegas.

      The store sells Internet, home phone and television packages, including Prism TV and DirecTV subscriptions.

      It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

      Famous Footwear opened its 10th Southern Nevada location Nov. 25 at Showcase Mall, 3771 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

      The shop sells more than 100 name brands of shoes for men, women and children.

      “Our decision to open a new store in Las Vegas was based on a recognized consumer need,” company President Rick Ausick said. "We look forward to delivering a great footwear shopping destination."

      The store is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

      Bar Prohibition!

      The Golden Gate's original bar has been renamed Bar Prohibition! It had no official name before.

      It also added several new drinks to its menu, all of which are served in a coffee mug to honor its Prohibition theme.

      The rebranding comes on the heels of a $15 million renovation of the downtown resort.

      Bar Prohibition! is open 24 hours. The Golden Gate has two outside bars, as well.
