Portable battery company finds success in Las Vegas

A local aircraft ground support company is doing so well it already has outgrown two buildings.

Start Pac, which manufactures batteries and chargers used to start airplane and train engines, recently expanded to a 15,000-square-foot building on West Sunset Road.

The company relocated to Las Vegas from Arizona in 2006 after considering California, Texas and Florida. Vice President Eve Storm said owners chose Las Vegas because out-of-town customers enjoy coming to the city for its entertainment and amenities.

Start Pac moved from a 4,000-square-foot facility to its new plant, which has 12,000 square feet of storage and floor space, as well as offices and a small gym for employees.

Storm attributes the company’s success to treating customers well and earning their trust with ethical business practices. Start Pac’s signature product is a portable lithium ground power starting unit.

The company is celebrating its move by spearheading a donation drive for St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City. Officials from St. Jude's and local government agencies are set to attend Start Pac's opening celebration Thursday.
