Some Henderson business owners can now apply online for a new business license.
City officials recently made it possible to download an application from the city’s website and submit both the paperwork and the application fee online.
Business owners have been able for some time to renew existing licenses with online payments. Until now, though, everyone had to go to City Hall to get a new license, city government spokeswoman Kathy Blaha said Tuesday.
Those who can now apply online include the owners of property maintenance companies; home-based sales businesses; and contracting firms, including building, painting, plumbing and locksmith companies.
Business owners whose line of work requires a police background check must still file their applications in person, Blaha said. Such businesses include liquor stores, bars, massage parlors and used-car dealerships.
The city receives about 2,300 applications for new licenses per year.
