Describe your business.

We are a self-producing and self-publishing video game company making the games that we would want to play. Our engineers, designers and animators have worked on titles such as “Command and Conquer,” the original “Need for Speed” and “Eve Online,” and movies such as “Transformers,” “The Avengers” and more.

Which games have you manufactured and released so far, and what operating systems/machines do they operate on?

Our first release is a multiplayer tower defense game called “Defenders of Time.” Matchmaking is available from 1-vs.-1 to 4-vs.-4, and a single player mode is also available. The maps combine exotic locations like the hanging gardens of Babylon and the destroyed village of Pompeii with detailed and exquisite artwork. “Defenders of Time” will be released for PC and Mac in September.

How much does it cost to purchase one of your games?

Single-player is free, and one license is $20. If one customer purchases a copy of the game, he or she can invite up to seven friends at a time to play for free. If others wish to play in other games without the owner, they’ll need to purchase a license.

Who are your customers?

Our game is really for everyone. Hardcore gamers at the RTX expo who swore they didn’t like the tower-defense genre decided they loved this game. Our alpha testers have ranged from women in their 60s to 9-year-old kids. If you enjoy video games and puzzles, this game is for you. The game is currently rated T for Teen since there is some Sci-Fi violence.

What makes your business unique?

We want to take genres that are well known but fairly consistent and inject new functionalities and features that haven’t been seen before.

One of the other unique aspects of our business is the relaxed yet super-efficient and friendly atmosphere we have. Everyone on our team is expected to be professional and manage their time, but in return, we don’t clock watch or stand over their shoulders (except when they’re doing something really cool!). Fear doesn’t have much of a place in our office.

What is your business philosophy?

Do the right thing by our customers so they keep coming back to purchase what we make. We want to make sure that when they’re playing our products, there isn’t anything that will pull them out of the experience — no popups for downloads, no need to exit the game to open another menu to use a microphone you just plugged in.

What obstacles has your business overcome?

It is difficult to lure top talents in the industry from across the United States to a company that has a vision but no established history, but we were able to reach the candidates who had the ability to see what the business could be rather than what it was in the beginning stages. Our greatest strength is and always will be the great people we have working to create.
