A renovated spa at Tahiti Village is open to the public after having previously been a guests-only retreat, and it’s celebrating the holidays with a discount for locals.
Mahana Spa now is under Tahiti Village ownership and opened to the public Nov. 7. The spa is offering Las Vegas Valley residents a 10 percent holiday discount through Jan. 31.
Also, a coffee bar and restaurant opens in downtown Las Vegas, another eatery opens at Downtown Summerlin and a cigar lounge makes its Southern Highlands debut.

Mahana Spa
Mahana Spa at Tahiti Village opened to the public Nov. 7, and the renovated retreat is offering locals with valid identification a 10 percent discount through Jan. 31.
The spa, on the ninth floor of Tower Five at Tahiti Village, offers various 50- to 90-minute massage packages.
The spa is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tahiti Village, 7200 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Makers & Finders Urban Coffee Bar
Makers & Finders Urban Coffee Bar held a grand opening and ribbon cutting downtown Dec. 5, according to a news release.
The shop, which also serves café-style breakfast and lunch, expects to be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Makers & Finders Urban Coffee Bar is at 1120 S. Main St., Suite 110.

MTO Café
MTO Café at Downtown Summerlin opened Nov. 25.
The 2,500-square-foot restaurant has a diverse menu and three dining areas, according to a news release.
MTO Café is in the Dining Arroyo area of Downtown Summerlin.

Sean Patrick’s Pub & Grill Cigar Lounge
The Sean Patrick’s Pub & Grill Cigar Lounge opened in mid-November at 11930 Southern Highlands Parkway.
The lounge includes stand-up humidors and seating for up to 14 people, according to a news release.

The Writer’s Block
The Writer’s Block, a downtown bookstore, recently opened and is planning its grand opening for February.
The Writer’s Block is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The store is at 1020 Fremont St.

Signal 88 Security
Signal 88 Security, an independently owned security-solutions company serving businesses and communities, plans to open in North Las Vegas in January.
Signal 88 Security is part of a network of more than 100 franchises nationwide. The North Las Vegas operation is owned by Jim Whiteman, a former sheriff’s deputy in Michigan, according to a news release.

Tacos el Gordo
Tacos el Gordo, a Mexican restaurant at 3049 Las Vegas Blvd. South, closed in late November, a spokesperson at the restaurant’s corporate office said.
The Tacos el Gordo at 1724 E. Charleston Blvd. remains open.
