Las Vegas is gaining a new entry in the grocery market and a branch of a national technology training facility. The area also is getting new locations of a nonprofit thrift store and the country's largest beauty retailer.
In addition, a remodeled downtown hostel offers 154 beds to travelers east of the Fremont East Entertainment District.
Las Vegas Hostel
Travelers can experience a taste of downtown Las Vegas by staying at the newly remodeled Las Vegas Hostel a few blocks from the Fremont East Entertainment District. The three-story building, owned and operated by Downtown Project, features 38 private and shared rooms with 154 beds.
“The hostel was redesigned with the hopes of offering all the comforts of home in a unique and inviting environment,” General Manager Julian Ross said.
Amenities include a pool, a stadium-style entertainment room and complimentary breakfast.

Save-a-lot
Save-a-lot, a St. Louis-based, discount grocery store, on Friday celebrated the official grand opening of a store that marks its re-entry into the valley. The business aims to bring fresh produce, dairy and quality meats to the Las Vegas community. Save-a-lot plans to open two more stores in the valley.

Ulta Beauty
Ulta, the country’s largest beauty retailer, opened the doors to its latest valley store Friday.
“We are truly a beauty destination for Las Vegas, and our Ulta beauty experts are ready to help with all of your beauty needs, from the basics to the perfect shade of lipstick to the newest hair tool,” said Kelly Smith, manager of all grand openings for the company.
The store will feature 20,000 beauty products across 550 brands, as well as a full-service salon.

Goodwill
The Centennial Hills neighborhood welcomed its first Goodwill location Friday. The 17,000-square-foot store, which features a drive-thru donation center, created 40 new jobs in Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s retail and operations department.
“As a local nonprofit, we are not only opening a record number of retail stores, but also celebrating 40 years of serving the greater Las Vegas community,” said Steve Chartrand, Goodwill of Southern Nevada's president and CEO.

Iron Yard
The Iron Yard, a new tech training facility comes to the valley Wednesday. Founded in 2012 in Greenville, S.C., the world’s largest code school will train students to build software and launch their careers in the tech industry in 12 weeks. Licensed by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education, the company said it also will help diversify the city’s economy and provide workforce training.
