Less dim sum in the valley, but more sandwiches and barbecue

ChiAm Fast Casual Chinese and Dim Sum Restaurant, 6010 W. Craig Road, Suite 150, has temporarily closed with plans to reopen in October.

Two dim sum restaurants have shuttered in the Las Vegas Valley — one temporarily — as a sandwich joint sets up shop in Henderson. A home decor store is also settling into Henderson as a downtown barbecue business plans to fire up at a second location.

      Employees will begin serving sandwiches Wednesday at a newly opened Jersey Mike’s Subs location in Henderson.

      The shop, at 10520 S. Eastern Ave., is 1,500 square feet and will offer the company's signature meals, including subs made Mike’s Way — with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and topped with a red wine vinegar and olive oil blend.

      The store will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

      Jersey Mike's Subs, which began in 1956, has more than 1,500 locations open and under development in the U.S.

      Locals looking for new home decor can drop by Kirkland’s, which has opened its third Las Vegas-area store.

      The new 9,715-square-foot Henderson location officially opened to the public Sept. 16 at the Galleria Commons Shopping Center, 490 N. Stephanie St., Suite 110.

      The business offers decorative items, gifts and seasonal merchandise.

      It is open 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

      ‪ChiAm Fast Casual Chinese and Dim Sum Restaurant‬, which opened to the public this month, has temporarily closed with plans to reopen in October.

      The restaurant, at 6010 W. Craig Road, Suite 150, held a grand opening Sept. 15 but had to shutter temporarily to install new equipment, according to a spokesman.

      The 2,200-square-foot restaurant, which provides organic choices and uses free-range, all-natural chicken as well as hormone-free flank steak, will reopen Thursday.

      Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m‬. seven days a week.

      Zine Noodles Dim Sum

      Zine Noodles Dim Sum at the Palazzo closed this month for a "major remodeling and reconcepting," according to the hotel.

      The restaurant is expected to reopen in November with a different menu, atmosphere and a new name: Hong Kong Café.

      Zine was named one of the top 10 Chinese restaurants in the U.S. in January 2010.

      Big Ern’s BBQ

      Container Park barbecue spot Big Ern’s BBQ will open a location at the Fiesta Rancho next month.

      The new 1,400-square-foot restaurant is expected to open in the first half of the month and will feature an expanded menu with side dishes including macaroni and cheese, fried okra and sweet potato fries, according to a Station Casinos spokeswoman and a news release.

      Owner Ernie Loya sold barbecue at a kiosk downtown before opening Big Ern’s at the Container Park in late 2013.

      It will be the second location for the business.
