Kirk Kerkorian will step down in June from the MGM Resorts International board of directors to become a senior adviser and the company's first director emeritus, Bloomberg reported today.

The 93-year-old billionaire is the founder and majority shareholder of MGM Resorts with 27 percent held through his Tracinda Corporation. Kerkorian told Bloomberg he felt his stake was adequately represented through two Tracinda executives currently on the board.

"I'm the founder of it. I just didn't care to keep going back to meetings," Kerkorian told Bloomberg.

Kerkorian has been a member of the MGM Resorts board since 1987.
