The world's largest gaming industry gathering lands in Las Vegas this week with a four-day conference at the Las Vegas Sands Convention Center.
The 12th Global Gaming Expo, better known as G2E, will bring together tens of thousands of people to learn about the latest casino innovations and to discuss the issues confronting the industry.
Conferences and learning sessions started Monday, and the exhibit floor opened this morning. Both run through Thursday.
This year, more than 430 companies from 28 countries will showcase their products. Show officials said that while the total number of exhibitors is down from last year, the number of international exhibitors has nearly doubled, from 40 to 70.
Still, "the G2E show floor is poised to be the event's largest since 2008 and once again will allow attendees to experience the latest technologies, products and services that will shape the gaming industry for years to come," American Gaming Association president and CEO Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr. said in a statement. The Washington-based American Gaming Association sponsors G2E.
Exhibitors will hawk a wide variety of goods, including slot machines, table games, uniforms, furniture, signage, security services – even casino scents.
Sessions will focus on a wide range of topics, including Internet gambling, social media marketing and gaming in Asian markets.
Last year's conference drew 25,000 people.
G2E runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. It is not open to the public.
