The Downtown Grand announced some executive management changes today.

Seth Schorr, the property’s former CEO, has transitioned to the new position of chairman, while Jim Simms is the new chief executive.

The changes are effective today.

The Downtown Grand said in a statement that Schorr’s new post will let him shift his attention to long-term planning, specifically for gaming operations.

Simms will lead the resort’s operations and help grow its restaurant and entertainment offerings, the statement said.

Simms was most recently president and general manager of Miami Valley Gaming in Ohio. Before that, he held numerous other positions in hospitality and gaming, including at businesses in West Virginia, Chicago and at Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas. He brings two decades of experience to the Downtown Grand.

“Jim’s extensive experience and success in both gaming and hospitality marketing and operations will allow me to focus on long-range planning for the resort and ensure that Downtown Grand maintains its position as a top-tier destination hotel and casino,” Schorr said in the statement.

Downtown Grand, a 634-room resort on the site of the former Lady Luck, is owned by CIM Group and operated by Fifth Street Gaming.
