Kristi Atwater of Global Cash joined the community advisory board of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

Urology Specialists of Nevada will close its office at 5701 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 201, and on Sept. 29 relocate to 2010 Goldring Ave., Suite 200. Its Green Valley campus (56 N. Pecos Road, Suite B) and northwest valley campus (3150 N. Tenaya Way, Suite 165) remain unchanged.

Fashion Show mall is expanding its exterior plaza on Las Vegas Boulevard. The redevelopment will include a 22,000-square-foot addition with five new restaurants and six retail cabanas. The project is scheduled to be completed by winter 2015.

Pavy Mueller is assistant director of international and group sales at Sundance Helicopters. Mueller will be responsible for corporate and convention group sales with a special focus on the Asian market.

Nathan Adelson Hospice was recognized nationally as one of the 2014 “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare, a business news publication. This is the third time the hospice has been recognized.

MountainView and Southern Hills hospitals were recognized for high performance in quality care measures and patient satisfaction by HealthInsight, a nonprofit organization aimed at improving health care in Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.

Elle Gaensslen is sales and marketing manager for custom lots in The Ridges in Summerlin. Gaensslen replaced Roger Pettiford, who retired after managing sales and marketing in the Ridges for more than 16 years.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Rose de Lima campus expanded its inpatient rehabilitation services with robotic equipment.

Inspired Excellence in Health Care Awards are being given to Drs. Howard Baron, Jeffrey Cummings, J.D. McCourt, Russell Nevins and Nicholas Vogelzang, as well as state Sen. Joseph Hardy. The awards, sponsored by Las Vegas HEALS, honor physicians and others for their contributions to Southern Nevada.

Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada, which provides free health care services to uninsured Southern Nevadans, plans to break ground on its second clinic Oct. 3. The facility will be located on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Madison Avenue downtown.

Touro University Nevada doubled the size of the Touro Health Center, adding an active aging center, Michael Harter Senior Active Center and expanded student health center. Additional doctors and staff were hired. Patients now will be able to take advantage of multidisciplinary specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, podiatry and social work.

Griffis Residential renamed two apartment communities: the Wellington Apartments, 9550 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, now is Griffis Summerlin South, and Quest Apartments, 210 Quest Park St., Henderson, now is Griffis Cornerstone Park.

Michelle St. Angelo is vice president of Langdon Flynn Communications, a public relations firm. She previously was the firm’s director of development.

Boyd Gaming Chief Operating Officer Paul Chakmak retired. President and CEO Keith Smith will assume Chakmak’s responsibilities.

Terry Shirey is president and chief operating officer of Nevada State Bank. He previously was chief financial officer. Jill Bell is executive vice president, Thomas Edington is chief financial officer and Jeremy Ranz is controller.

Summerlin Hospital Medical Center partnered with Primary Children’s Hospital of Salt Lake City to share services and specialists, integrate medical records, coordinate patient transfers, and access continuing education and research.

Metro Police welcomed 30 new correction officers who graduated from Correction Officer Academy Class on Sept. 17.

The Commissary Kitchen by Richard Sandoval at the Downtown Grand expanded its hours. The Coffee Café is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch is served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Bar Bites menu is available from 3 to 10 p.m.

Luis Rivas is a chiropractic physician intern at Aliante Integrated Physical Medicine. Rivas completed his first year toward receiving a Ph.D. in physical therapy at Texas Woman’s University in Dallas.
