The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce honored several local businesses at the 2015 Business Excellence Awards. Receiving the Trailblazers (Community Impact) award were CenturyLink, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, MGM Resorts International and Welcome Home Troops. Winners of the Innovators award were Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Helix Electric, Opportunity Village, Rimini Street and William Hill Race and Sports Book. Winners of the Pacesetters (Leaders) award were Americana Safety, Applied Analysis, Café Rio Mexican Grill, Skyworks Aerial Systems and Workforce Connections. Winners of the Groundbreakers (Trendsetters) award were Blue Heron Design Build, Clean Energy Project, Crazy Pita Restaurant Group, Las Vegas Convention Center, SpringHill Suites Marriott and the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. Winners of the Cultivators (Company Culture) award were Aliante Casino; Barclaycard US; Cox Communications; Fair, Anderson & Langerman; and Dr. Rex Liu, Family and Cosmetic Dentistry.

FirstService Residential provides HOA management services for Saddle Peak at Nevada Trails Community Association, off of Rainbow Boulevard and Robindale Road.

Americana Holdings, which operates as Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties, partnered with ListHub Global to provide expanded international marketing opportunities.

Fair, Anderson & Langerman was named as one of the “Best Places to Work” by Accounting Today.

Zydeco Po-Boys opened at 616 E. Carson Ave., Suite 140, Las Vegas.

The Expertise Cosmetology Institute is under construction at 535 E. Lake Mead Blvd., North Las Vegas. The $2 million project is expected to create 552 jobs.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the Consumer Electronics Association helped arrange a partnership between the World Trade Center Las Vegas and the World Trade Center Seoul. The WTC Seoul is owned by the Korea International Trade Association, the largest business organization in Korea, with more than 71,000 member companies. Through the agreement, Las Vegas and Seoul can co-market under the World Trade Center brand.

Buffalo Wild Wings opened a 24-hour location in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

Roseman University of Health Sciences’ College of Nursing in Henderson received a three-year, $1,050,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration to help veterans become professional nurses. The grant will support military veterans’ transition to nursing careers by providing academic credit for prior military training, experience and leadership. In addition, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education named Roseman’s College of Medicine a candidate for accreditation.

Rivea and Skyfall Lounge opened at Delano Las Vegas.

Smart Buy Insurance Inc., opened a health insurance enrollment center at Boulevard Mall for uninsured and underinsured Nevadans.

Ensemble Senior Apartments opened at 2655 W. Agate Ave., Las Vegas.

Maverick Helicopters launched a partnership with PlayStudios to offer real-world experiences through the developer’s MyVegas slots and blackjack applications. Players can redeem loyalty points for excursions in Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Maui, Hawaii.

Paris Baguette opened at the Grand Canal Shoppes in the Venetian and Palazzo.

Black Enterprise magazine named MGM Resorts International one of the “Best Companies for Diversity” in the United States based on its diversity and inclusion practices. MGM Resorts was the only company based in Nevada to be named to the magazine’s list.

Findings and data released on Healthgrades.com and in the Healthgrades 2016 Report to the Nation show valley hospitals received five stars in a multitude of areas. Dignity Health St. Rose Hospital-Rose de Lima campus received five stars for hip fracture treatment, esophageal/stomach surgeries, colorectal surgeries and respiratory failure care. The Siena campus received five stars for hip fracture treatment and Caesarian section delivery. The San Martin campus received five stars for pacemaker procedures and pneumonia care. Valley Hospital Medical Center received five stars for gynecologic surgery and Caesarian section and vaginal deliveries. Sunrise Hospital received five stars for Caesarian section and vaginal deliveries, hip fracture treatment and peripheral vascular bypass. Southern Hills Hospital received five stars for esophageal/stomach surgeries, heart failure care, gastrointestinal bleed care and pneumonia care. North Vista Hospital received five stars for appendectomy and bariatric surgery. MountainView Hospital received five stars for coronary artery bypass graft surgery. UMC received five stars for Caesarian section and vaginal deliveries. Summerlin Hospital received five stars for Caesarian sections. Desert Springs received five stars for bariatric surgery. Spring Valley received five stars for Caesarian section deliveries.
