    • Several Valley Health System nurses were honored during the March of Dimes Southern Nevada Nurse of the Year awards.       Thomas Sheets

      Thomas Sheets, a tax and energy law attorney at McDonald Carano Wilson and former general counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, was appointed to the Nevada Tax Commission by Gov. Brian Sandoval. Sheets was chairman of the tax commission for six years before leaving for the energy commission. He also is a former senior vice president and general counsel for Southwest Gas Corp.

    • Terry Reynolds is deputy director of the state Department of Business and Industry. Reynolds manages the department’s financial, human resources and administrative functions. He has more than 35 years of management experience. Reynolds replaces Shannon Chambers, who moved to a new position in the department.

      Ed Zagalao was appointed to the board of directors at the Clark County Credit Union. Zagalao, a member of the credit union’s audit committee, will fill the remainder of Polly Atchison’s term. Atchison resigned and relocated out of state. Zagalao is a principal financial analyst for Clark County.

    • Stacy Scheer, a senior associate at Colliers International — Las Vegas, received her Certified Commercial Investment Member designation. As a CCIM, Scheer is recognized as an expert in commercial investment real estate.

      Genowefa Craig launched Genowefa Sweets, a confection company that offers custom packaging to corporate, nonprofit and individual clients.

    • David Boyer was named Realtor of the Year by the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. He works at Prudential Americana Group. Other GLVAR award winners for 2013 were: Ronnie Schwartz, Coldwell Banker Premier Realty, Gene Nebeker Memorial Award for professionalism and service to GLVAR and the community; Mark Miscevic, Meadows Group Realty, Ronn Reiss Award for educational excellence and leadership; Lee Barrett, Barrett and Co., Frank Sala Award for long-term commitment to grass-roots political action and protecting private property rights; and Robert Hamrick, of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty, Elizabeth Nebeker, of Las Vegas Realty, and Neil Schwartz, of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty, GLVAR Hall of Fame inductees.

    • Vincent Vitatoe and Adam Anderson are attorneys at Marquis Aurbach Coffing. Vitatoe focuses on general civil litigation and civil appeals, while Anderson’s primary practice areas include business litigation, intellectual property and sports and entertainment law.

      Greg Brower, a partner at Snell & Wilmer, was appointed to the Nevada Legislature’s interim committee to study the impact of technology on gaming regulation. The committee was created by 2013 legislation.

    • Melissa Weiner is the new franchise owner of Kidville at Tivoli Village. Weiner began her career with Kidville in New York as a part-time teacher while in school at Hunter College earning her master’s degree in early childhood education. She relocated to Las Vegas in 2011.

      Kevin Buckley

      Kevin Buckley, a commercial real estate broker and board member of the Commercial Alliance Las Vegas, was honored by the National Association of Realtors as one of 59 commercial real estate professionals from across the nation — and the only honoree from Nevada — to receive the association’s Commercial National Award. Buckley is a broker at First Real Estate Companies in Las Vegas.

    • Treasea Wolf was promoted to vice president at Walker Engineering, a civil engineering consulting firm. She has been with the firm for more than 10 years. Additionally, Robert Harmsma was hired at Walker Engineering. He has more than 30 years of civil engineering experience.

    • The Henderson Chamber of Commerce honored seven businesses and three people during its inaugural Business on the Rise Awards. Honorees included: Marriott Munchables, Business on the Rise; S.A.F.E. House, Outstanding Nonprofit; Kyklos Greek Café, All in the Family; Grape Expectations, Innovation; Emerald Island Casino, Outstanding Community Service; PostNet #411, Above and Beyond; Bob Anderson, Snell & Wilmer, Board Member of the Year; Bill Bokelmann, chairman of the chamber’s Ambassador Committee, Ambassador of the Year; Larry Seedig, retired USAA Bank president, Spirit of Henderson; Black Mountain Golf and Country Club, Staying Power; and Laird Noble Sanders, Noble Award.

    • Bally Technologies announced a new senior executive team following the company’s acquisition of Shfl Entertainment. The senior-level executives, who report to CEO Ramesh Srinivasan, are:

      Katie Lever, senior vice president of legal and compliance, secretary and general counsel. Lever was general counsel and executive vice president of Shfl.

      John Connelly, senior vice president of business development and interactive. Connelly has more than 20 years experience in the gaming industry, including almost 10 years at Bally.

      Neil Davidson, senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Davidson has been Bally’s CFO since 2010 and has been with the company since 2006.

      Adrian Halpenny, senior vice president of Australia and Europe. Halpenny was president of Shfl’s Australasian and Asia businesses since 2010 and was Shfl Australasia’s director of operations from 2007 to 2010.

      Gary Kapral, senior vice president of operations and human resources. Kapral has been with Bally since 2005 overseeing organizational development and human resources strategic-growth initiatives. Kapral also has led Bally’s operations and global supply chain.

      Bryan Kelly, senior vice president of technology. Kelly joined Bally in 2004 and manages research and development of new gaming technologies, features and products.

      Sridhar Laveti, senior vice president of customer services. Laveti joined Bally in 2006 and manages services and support teams for the games and systems divisions.

      Derik Mooberry, senior vice president of games, table-game products and interactive research and development. Mooberry, who has almost 20 years of industry experience, will oversee sales and operations in Mexico and Latin America.

      Robert Parente, senior vice president of North American sales and corporate marketing. Parente has almpost 20 years experience in the gaming industry and was Bally’s vice president of Canada, Europe and corporate accounts. Parente also oversees a consolidated sales organization, including executive Tom Reilly and several other long-time sales executives from Bally and Shfl.

      Srinivasan Raghavan, senior vice president of Asia, India and South Africa. Raghavan joined Bally in 2005 and oversees development centers in India. He was Bally’s senior vice president of Asia-Pacific and Africa and managing director of Bally India.

      Sethuram Shivashankar, senior vice president of systems research and development and information technology. Shivashankar joined Bally in 2006 and is responsible for product management, software development and global information technology.

      Roger Snow will serve as senior vice president of table products.

      Julia Boguslawski will be vice president of corporate marketing.

      Deron Hunsberger, Alexander “Axel” Grohs, Nathan Wadds, Colin Helsen, John Hemberger, Peter Wilkins, Terri Conway and John Strickland, previously with Shfl, will join the Bally team.

      • Consultant Kevin Verner will continue to the lead integration efforts. He led the merger of the companies and was lead independent director on Bally Technologies’ board of directors.
