    • Engineers from Tronox’s Henderson plant took a day off to teach Cashman Middle School students about their profession and opportunities available in engineering. The effort was part of the school’s “Careers in Engineering Day.” Kevin McIntosh, senior process engineer, and Keenan Sanders, staff process engineer, served as teachers. About 600 students participated in the program. Tronox also donated $5,000 to the Basic High School Robotics Team, which teaches students the engineering components of robotics and how to build robots through advanced production methods. This is Tronox’s second year funding the team.

    • Roman and Renate Zerga, founders of DJoyBeat.com, were given the Hero of the Year Award for their sponsorship of three neighborhood employability academies, six homeless youth academic engagement interventions and four Hero School Homeless Academies. Additionally, Shirley Biegger, Flora Mason and state Sen. Joyce Woodhouse were honored with Legacy Awards for their support of Hero School’s Suit Center. The Suit Up event raised $11,514 and collected more than 100 suits and dresses.

    • Michael I. Kling, founder of Kling Law Offices, completed his fifth annual LoToJa race to raise money for cancer research. LoToJa is a one-day, 206-mile bike race from Logan, Utah, to Jackson, Wyo. Kling raised $6,500, bringing his five-year total to nearly $20,000.

    • Danny Vegas, Lady Vegas and Fashion Mob LV held a concert and fashion fundraiser at She by Morton’s to aid typhoon victims.
