Jeff Rodefer is general counsel and chief compliance officer at Golden Gaming. Rodefer previously was with Boyd Gaming Corp. for almost 12 years, where he served as vice president of legal affairs, assistant general counsel and corporate compliance. He also spent 13 years with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

Matt Pielecha is a physician’s assistant at Surgical Weight Control Center, a bariatric surgery center. He is responsible for meeting with patients, performing and monitoring lap-band adjustments and assisting Drs. James Atkinson and Darren Soong in the operating room.

Michael Vannozzi was promoted to director of public policy at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. He previously was manager of strategic initiatives. Prior to joining LVGEA, Vannozzi was special projects manager for U.S. Sen. Harry Reid.

Edward Cadena, former SBA district director of Nevada, was named district director for the SBA’s Denver office. Robert Holguin, deputy district director in Nevada, will assume the position of acting district director until a permanent appointment is made.

Tom Hoover, director at Landauer Valuation and Advisory, a division of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, was awarded the Certified Valuation Analysis Designation from the National Valuation of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Hoover is an attorney and holds an MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.

Stacey Martini is vice president and branch manager of City National Bank’s Green Valley office. Martini, who has 18 years of experience in the banking industry, joined City National from Bank of the West, where she spent the last four years as vice president and branch manager.

Wanda Shumar is senior vice president, regional manager of Bank of George’s Henderson office. Shumar has more than 30 years of banking experience and most recently worked as a vice president and relationship manager at Bank of Nevada.

Edward Vance, founder and CEO of EV&A Architects, was selected for a fellowship at the American Institute of Architects. He is the only recipient from Nevada to receive such recognition this year.

James Bridges Jr. retired from the board of directors of the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society. He was elected to the board in 1989.

Michael Cunningham is an executive vice president, regional president at Bank of Nevada. He has more than 30 years of banking experience and previously worked at Nevada State Bank.

Akos Feher is vice president of Shelby Performance Parts. Feher has 15 years of engineering experience, including serving as director of production and strategic planning at Shelby American.

Michelle Alarie, a litigator for Armstrong Teasdale, was selected for membership in the Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court, the local chapter of the American Inns of Court.

Yvanna Cancela received the 2014 Emilie Wanderer Civil Libertarian of the Year award from the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada. She is political director at Culinary Workers Union Local 226 of Unite Here.

LeAnn Sanders, a partner at Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen and Sanders, was inducted into the International Society of Barristers, an honor society of trial lawyers.

Brad Kleiss is general manager at Rockhouse inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. He has more than 10 years of experience in restaurant management and has been manager at PBR Rockbar and Todd English P.U.B.

Keith Barlow is an associate at Greene Infuso, a commercial bankruptcy, litigation and personal injury law firm. Barlow clerked for the Hon. Valarie Adair, of the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas.

Jordan Brown is controller and Lindy Frye is assistant brand manager at Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas. Brown previously worked as controller at Sodexo in Flagstaff, Ariz., and at Aramark in Las Vegas. Frye previously worked with the Blue Man Group, most recently as press and marketing coordinator.

Two administrators from the International School of Hospitality won national recognition from the Convention Industry Council. Academic consultant Patti Shock is an inductee to the Hall of Leaders, and Director of Academic Affairs Donnell Bayot is a recipient of the Pacesetter Award.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties sales executives Florence Shapiro, Ellen Fahr and Leslie Carver were listed among the Top 25 Women In Real Estate by the Women’s Council of Realtors–Las Vegas based on 2013 sales volume. Combined, the women sold $675 million in real estate last year.

Melissa Corken, executive producer of the World Music Awards, joined the advisory board of the Liberace Foundation for the Creative and Performing Arts.

Edward Coulson is director of the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at UNLV. Coulson, previously a professor of real estate studies at Penn State University, also will teach in the economics department.

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District received a National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation’s highest honor for museums and libraries. It honors institutions that demonstrate innovative approaches to public service. First lady Michelle Obama presented the award to Executive Director Jeanne Goodrich and community member Avree Walker at a White House ceremony.
