MountainView Hospital’s Tim Foley, who works in the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery clinic, was the national Hospital Corporation of America winner in the “Quality and Patient Safety” category. More than 1,500 ideas were submitted from across the country.

Jeff Breeden, a partner at Stewart, Archibald and Barney, was appointed to the Boulder City Library District board of trustees. His term will end May 14, at which time he can elect to continue serving an additional four-year term.

Tsering Song is a financial servicing analyst on the Small Business Administration team at Meadows Bank. She has previously worked with One Nevada Credit Union, City National Bank, Sun West Bank and US Bank.

Karla Perez, regional vice president of seven hospitals in the Western region of Universal Health Services, joined Nevada State Bank’s board of directors.

Rama Venkat is dean of UNLV’s Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering. He had been named interim dean of the college in 2010 and has been a faculty member since 1989.

Amber Tesoro is marketing project manager at Colliers International — Las Vegas. She oversees the creation of marketing materials and assists with special events. Delia Dominguez was promoted to senior associate. Her responsibilities include property analysis and trend research in the Las Vegas real estate market, specializing in office and medical properties. She has been with the company since 2001 and previously was an associate.

Dr. Kelly Schmidt joined the Nevada Neurosciences Institute at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Schmidt specializes in adult and pediatric neurosurgery.

Marlene Adrian, a Las Vegas resident and president of Women of Diversity Productions, is the Women’s Hall of Fame Pioneer Award inductee at the 9th annual Women’s Hall of Fame awards banquet, scheduled for March 28 at the Monte Carlo. She is a professor emerita at the University of Illinois. Leadership inductees are: Dr. Heather Allen, medical oncologist at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada; Dawn Metcalfe, chief financial officer and vice president at Nathan Adelson Hospice; Jennifer Cooper, communications director at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development; Gigi Vega, vice president and general manager at Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace; and Paige Candee, president at 10e Media. Young Professional Leadership inductees are: Patricia Lee, partner with Hutchinson and Steffen; Melissa Biernacinski, director of media at Imagine Communications; Tracy Skenandore, area director of marketing and public relations at Republic Services; Kathryn Joy Rineer, architect at Pugsley Simpson Coulter Architects; and Jodi Tyson, government affairs director at Three Square Food Bank. Other awards include the Minority Lifetime Achievement inductee: Phyllis James, executive vice president and special counsel for litigation and chief diversity officer at MGM Resorts International; Women in Entertainment and Media inductee Amie Jo Greer, TV producer, host, writer and performer; and Women’s Organization inductee Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Southern Nevada.

Timothy Behrendt and Lisa Hauger joined the sales team at Sun Commercial Real Estate. Behrendt has 40 years of experience in real estate, including commercial and residential properties. Hauger has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, leasing and managing commercial properties in Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

John VanderPloeg is retail business banking sales manager at Nevada State Bank and leads a new team of retail development officers focused on serving small businesses in Southern Nevada. VanderPloeg has held several management positions at the bank, including branch manager, district manager and vice president/senior real estate operations officer. The retail development officers on the team, with their respective branches, are: Judy Bachman (Harbor Island), Robin Schneider (Twain/Jones), Bobbie Oesterling (McCarran Center), Viannette Corona-Armijo (Craig/Clayton), Jeanette Perez (Bridger), Antonio Madrigal (Maryland Parkway) and Chris Berry (Pebble Market).

Aimee Wenske was promoted to brand and social media manager at Xyience, a sports nutrition company. She oversees brand and interdepartmental communications, manages social media, and works with Xyience’s executive team on national retail and online promotional programs.

Kristina Barry is strategic initiatives coordinator at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. Barry provides assistance on policy issues, including initiatives on education, tech transfer, transportation, land use, unmanned aerial systems and workforce development.

Randy Taylor was promoted to chief financial officer at Global Cash Access Holdings, a provider of cash access solutions, cash handling devices and related services for gaming establishments. Taylor has been with GCA since 2011, serving as senior vice president and controller. He previously served in various positions with Citadel Broadcasting Corp.

Alison Murray and Justin Huntington of the Desert Research Institute earned its highest researcher honors. Murray, who is a co-investigator on DRI’s Lake Vida Project in Antarctica, received the 2013 Nevada Regents’ Researcher Award. An international team led by Murray in 2012 published the discovery of a community of bacteria surviving beneath nearly 20 meters of ice in one of Antarctica’s most isolated lakes. Huntington was one of three faculty members who received the 2013 Rising Researcher Award.

Dr. Tony Chin is medical director of the Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, Rose de Lima Campus’ Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility. Chin has resided in Southern Nevada since 1994 and has been a medical director and rehabilitation director at various facilities locally.

Members of the 2014 board of directors for the Gaming Standards Association are: chairman Adrian Marcu, IGT; vice chairman Walt Eisele, Bally Technologies; treasurer Mark Pace, WMS Gaming; and secretary Rick Gilhuly, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corp. Mark Musser is a partner at NAI Vegas. He joins NAI after 13 years at local and national real estate firms. Musser previously was a vice president at Apartment Realty Advisors in Las Vegas and at the Bentley Group Real Estate Advisors.

Brian Hilderbrand is media relations manager at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He has 30 years of experience as a sports writer. At LVMS, he will publicize the racing programs at the Bullring and the Strip as well as other events at the 1,200-acre facility.

Bryan Gant is a partner at Wood Rodgers. He will be the transportation lead at the Las Vegas office. He has a background in transportation.
