Snowy and icy weather in the South is creating flight delays to and from the region’s airports, including the nation’s busiest, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International.
Most nonstop flights between McCarran International and Atlanta have been canceled or delayed by more than two hours, according to data provided by FlightStats, which monitors airline on-time performance.
Delta, Southwest and AirTran offer nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Atlanta and those airlines are allowing passengers to rebook flights with no penalty today and Thursday.
Southwest has also posted a travel advisory and will allow flights to be rebooked for Birmingham, Ala.; Charleston, S.C.; and Jacksonville, Fla. Rebookings also are permitted today only for Charlotte, Raleigh and Greenville, N.C.; and Richmond and Norfolk, Va.
Airport and airline officials are recommending that passengers scheduled to travel today and Thursday contact their airline about possible flight delays.
