A downtowner was named one of this year’s 100 most creative people in business in the latest issue of Fast Company magazine.
Jen McCabe is VegasTechFund’s chief of hardware investments. TechFund is an arm of Downtown Project, whose directors include Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh.
The magazine put her at No. 35 on the list.
McCabe moved to Las Vegas in December 2011 to develop her business, HabitLabs.com, a site to help people adopt beneficial habits. She said Downtown Project’s commitment to community attracted her to the city.
Soon after her arrival, she joined Romotive, which makes a little robot directed by iPhones. When Romotive, another VegasTechFund investment, bolted for Silicon Valley, McCabe stayed.
She now runs Nimbus Portfolio, VegasTechFund’s hardware startup division. Her LinkedIn profile says she “leads seed and early stage investments in robotics, drones, hardware-as-a-service, connected devices, health peripherals, internet of things, interactive play and smart home companies.”
