Fire Station 108 now serving East Las Vegas; Fashion Show gets Spanx

The $6.6 million Fire Station 108, serving Ward 3, opened late last month and will provide quicker rescue time for east Las Vegas.

Elsewhere in the valley, two fast-food chains start serving chicken. And two specialty stores now sell women's shapewear and pet items.

    • Fire Station 108

      A new fire station opened Aug. 27 near Page Street.

      Fire Station 108 is serving Ward 3, which covers east Las Vegas.

      “We have long looked forward to opening a fire station with paramedic services in this part of Ward 3,” Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin said. “The new station will enable us to provide faster firefighting and emergency services to these eastside neighbors, and that should save lives.”

      The cost of the new station was approximately $6.6 million. The fire station is 7,740 square feet and will be house one engine and one rescue unit.

      Fire Station 108 is at 4555 E. Bonanza Road.

    • Spanx at Fashion Show mall

      The Spanx shapewear line has been carried at department stores, but this is the first store of its kind to hit Las Vegas.

      Spanx will offer their line of shapewear, women’s fashion and fitness apparel, swimwear, their full bra line and menswear.

      The store is located on the second floor of the Fashion Show mall in the Macy’s corridor and will feature its signature "Power Tower" wall, filled with all types of shapewear.

      Spanx is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

    • El Pollo Loco

      A new El Polo Loco restaurant opened on 1985 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. late last month.

      The restaurant held its ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 26. This is the 18th El Pollo Loco location in Las Vegas.

      El Pollo Loco specializes in authentic Mexican Food and also gives back to the community by hosting fundraisers for local schools and nonprofit organizations.

      The Mexican restaurant caters and is open seven days a week.

    • Church's Chicken

      Church’s Chicken recently opened a new location at 1625 E. Charleston Blvd.

      The fast food restaurant is one of over 1,700 locations in 25 countries and specializes in chicken, including their original and spicy chicken, wings, biscuits and more.

      For the month of September, Church’s Chicken will observe National Chicken Month, National Biscuit Month and National Honey Month.

      Church’s is open seven days a week and offers a drive thru and delivery option.

    • Petco

      The Sahara Center is adding a Petco to their shopping center.

      The Petco store is having their grand opening this weekend. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be Saturday, and pet adoptions will take place all weekend.

      The store will have a full selection of food, treats and more for pets of all shapes and sizes.

      Petco is located on 10000 W. Sahara Ave. at the Sahara Center in Summerlin. The store is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
