Allegiant Travel among fastest-growing companies in nation

Allegiant Travel Co., parent company of Las Vegas-based Allegiant Airlines, is the 64th fastest-growing company in the nation, according to Fortune magazine.

Allegiant is the only Nevada company to make the magazine’s list of 100 top growth companies. It operated 159 flights a week to 44 destinations from McCarran International Airport as of August and is adding nonstop flights to and from Lexington, Ky., and Knoxville, Tenn., in November.

The list of companies, appearing in Fortune’s Sept. 26 edition, says Allegiant had three-year revenue growth of 19 percent, three-year profit growth of 41 percent and a total return of 39 percent through June 30, based on revenue of $687.2 million and net income of $60.3 million for four quarters through the first quarter of 2011.

The top three companies on the Fortune list are SXC Health Solutions, Lisle, Ill.; Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Waterbury, Vt.; and Hi-Tech Pharmacal, Amityville, N.Y.
