Joe Downtown: New restaurant ready to take slice of downtown pizza market

Pizza Rock, a new restaurant that will compete for downtown’s pizza dollars, will hold its grand opening Saturday.

In a space formerly occupied by the short-lived Celebrity, at Ogden Avenue and Third Street, just south of Triple George and west of the soon-to-open Downtown Grand, Pizza Rock will open.

A post on Pizza Rock’s website says the new restaurant will open at 5 p.m., featuring “pizza acrobatics” and music by DJ Chris The Rebel.

Pizza Rock’s opening will be just a few weeks after the opening of Wild, a pizza place on the first floor of the Ogden high-rise.

With Pizza Rock and Wild, the number of downtown pizza places rises to seven, including Uncle Joe’s, Radio City Pizza, Pop-Up Pizza, Piccadilly Pizza Fremont and Luna Rosa.
