Iron Chef Bobby Flay enters a new kitchen stadium as he joins the Las Vegas burger battle. Flay’s casual restaurant, Bobby’s Burger Palace, opens just weeks after Mario Batali's B & B Burger and Beer debuted in the Venetian.
Meanwhile, the home of the $5 burger is getting an upgrade and an upscale steakhouse is expanding its Las Vegas presence.
A bargain shopper’s go-to outlet is adding a new location, and a neighborhood grocery store is saying goodbye.

Bobby’s Burger Palace
Food Network star Bobby Flay serves up specialty burgers inspired by America’s regional flavors at the new Bobby’s Burger Palace in front of CityCenter.
Located at 3750 Las Vegas Blvd. South, the 18th BBP location nationwide opened Jan. 29, with Flay present to receive the key to the city.
The Strip incarnation of BBP is a casual dining experience with seating for 146 people. It offers a margarita to-go bar and an expanded menu, which includes the Vegas Burger — topped with white American cheese, red chilis and barbecue chips.
BBP Vegas is open from 10 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar opened at Town Square on Jan. 17.
The steakhouse, located at 6515 Las Vegas Blvd. South, matches its interior with that of the chain’s Palo Alto location, pictured above.
This is the second Fleming’s location in Las Vegas. The upscale chain is owned and operated by Bloomin' Brands, Inc., which runs chains including Roy’s and Outback Steakhouse.
Fleming’s Town Square is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday.

99 Cents Only Store
A new 99 Cents Only Store opened Jan. 23 at 3258 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The location, which will include about 20,000 square feet of goods, is the 18th 99 Cents Only Store in Nevada.
Founded in 1982, the 99 Cents Only Store chain operates 341 retail stores.

Binion’s Café
Binion’s Café, located within Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel, has been temporarily relocated due to renovations.
The staff is working out of the hotel’s old coffee shop space as Binion’s renovates the café, which was shut down in early January for the expansion.
Renovations to the eatery, known for its $5 burger, should be complete by the first week of March.

Smith’s
Smith’s Food and Drug closed a single Las Vegas location Thursday.
The Smith’s located at 6150 W. Flamingo Road was shut down because it underperformed, according to the company. The closure will not affect other locations in the valley.
