Switch, a high-tech company that started in Las Vegas, houses digital data for a number of Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. government in its expansive facilities.

A popular Chinese wireless technology company has started operating in Las Vegas and expects to develop manufacturing and distribution facilities that will employ hundreds of people in Southern Nevada, the company announced today.

Wirelessor, a Shenzhen-based technology company that offers charging, data transfer and application-control devices for Apple, Windows and Amazon products, has started its operations at the Rob Roy InNEVation Center at Switch, a high-tech data storage center in southwest Las Vegas.

The announcement was made in conjunction with this week’s Consumer Electronics Show.

Gary Lee, president and CEO of Wirelessor Enterprises, said the company considered locating in Long Beach, Calif., until he met with representatives of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development last year.

“I met Tom Skancke (CEO of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance) in Shenzhen last year and was interested in what Las Vegas had to offer,” Lee said. “I was considering opening my North American operation in Long Beach, but after comparing the region’s political, tax and economic climates, I decided that Las Vegas was the better option.”

Wirelessor’s website already lists Las Vegas as its North American headquarters, and four of the company’s top executives have moved here.

Lee said there would be some local hiring after at the end of January and the manufacturing and distribution plant would be built in the next 18 to 24 months.
