Kerry Simon debuts Carson Kitchen; Poker folds at Palms

Carson Kitchen, the downtown restaurant developed by celebrity chef Kerry Simon, is now open for business.

The restaurant made its debut Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Palms announced the closure of its poker room and a new store is hoping to become a prominent source of fine paper products.

      Kerry Simon, celebrity chef and restaurateur, opened Carson Kitchen with partner Cory Harwell on Thursday.

      The downtown restaurant promises to fit in with the area’s “funky, hipster vibe” while offering affordable gourmet food including social plates, flatbreads and desserts.

      The business, located at 124 South 6th St., will also offer cocktails, wines, microbrewed soda brands and more.

      Carson Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day for lunch and dinner.

    • Palms Poker Room

      The Palms closed its poker room Tuesday, according to a statement from a hotel representative.

      The resort, which has discontinued poker, had renovated the space as part of a major property makeover in 2012.

      The room will now become part of the race and sports book.

    • Paper Source

      Paper Source

      Paper Source opened this month at Tivoli Village. The new location, which sells paper as well as gift wrap, customized stamps, invitations and more, held its grand opening June 6.

      The store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

      A nationwide retailer, Paper Source has plans to open another location at Town Square in July.

    • Wildfire Casino

      Wildfire Lake Mead

      Wildfire Gaming opened a new location, Wildfire Lake Mead, June 6.

      The 5,400-square-foot establishment, which promotes its slot and video poker machines, offers a quick-service menu as well as a bar and sports lounge.

      Located at 846 Lake Mead Parkway, Henderson, Wildfire Lake Mead is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    • Celine at The Shops at Crystals

      Céline

      French fashion brand Céline opened a store in Las Vegas last month.

      Located at the Shops at Crystals within CityCenter, the boutique features accessories, handbags, shoes and ready-to-wear clothing.

      According to its website, the store offers clothing that emphasizes material and tailoring.

      The new location is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
