A Henderson couple has launched a business offering water damage, mold and storm-related restoration services to local homeowners.

“Water, when it’s trapped — it has nowhere to go,” Sharone Royall said. “So, the only way it can leave is if you actually properly restore it, or you dry it out.”

The Chicago natives moved to Southern Nevada about a decade ago, where Ana Royall works as a licensed real estate agent. Through that work, she was exposed to water restoration and mold remediation as homeowners and property management companies dealt with water-related losses.

Her husband handles much of the marketing for her real estate business. Looking to invest in something more “recession resilient” than real estate, the pair opened United Water Restoration Group of Henderson in February.

Water loss can range from leaks, clogs and sewage backups that damage the bathroom, floors and walls to damage caused by flash flooding. Their business provides emergency water cleanup, restoration and even reconstruction, Ana Royall said.

“Sometimes flooring is ruined and things like that,” she said. “So we come in and we’ll actually restore everything back to new when someone has water that comes through for any reason, whether that’s a plumbing failure, or if that’s a storm, or if that’s backup from their toilet or backup from their tub.”

Without immediate water-restoration services, homeowners risk mold developing within 48 hours of a leak or other water loss issues, Ana Royall said. United Water Restoration Group of Henderson dries homes out before that can happen, she said.

“When we go out to a particular house, we pretty much at first just try and diagnose the situation,” Sharone Royall said. “First off, we want to try to contain the environment. If it’s an emergency water leak, our job is to stop the source first. After we stopped the source, then we’re supposed to do the cleanup.”

In addition to mold, homeowners risk water damage, making it difficult for them to eventually sell their home through the home-inspection process.

Water and damage will affect the structure of the home, Sharone Royall said.

In the less than six months since they opened, the Royalls said they have seen how storms and flash flooding in Clark County can affect the structure of homes in the area, particularly in condos and multifamily homes that ultimately experience leaks.

“I think it’s a unique area to service because I think a lot of people don’t know about it,” Ana Royall said. “I think that’s the issue — that there’s no exposure to water restoration.”

The Royalls are going through the learning curve of opening a business, with long-term expectations for United Water Restoration Group of Henderson, Sharone Royall said.

“People need to be made more aware about an additional service in regards to properly restoring your home — not just having a handyman come out to just do a patch job,” he said.
