Las Vegas Sands names president of local properties

Las Vegas Sands has named a new president for its Las Vegas properties, the company announced this week.

John Caparella, most recently the principal of Redmont Hospitality, has been appointed to the position of president of the Venetian, Palazzo and Sands Expo Center.

The position has been vacant since former president Rob Goldstein stepped into his role as president of global gaming operations with Las Vegas Sands in January. Goldstein has been with the company since 1995.

Caparella has held positions in the hospitality industry for 29 years, including a senior executive position at Planet Hollywood International and 17 years with Shearton at several different hotels along the East Coast.

“We’re very excited about the addition of John Caparella,” Sands chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson said in a statement. “John is widely known as a knowledgeable hotel executive with years of experience in virtually every aspect of hotel management. He is aptly suited to head our operations in Las Vegas and will be a tremendous asset to us in the years to come.”
