Licensing enables Affinity of Las Vegas to improve Colorado casinos

Affinity Gaming LLC of Las Vegas today said it has received gaming licenses from the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.

The approvals were expected, as Affinity is already licensed in Nevada, Iowa and Missouri.

The licenses enable Affinity to operate its three Black Hawk, Colo., casinos: the Golden Mardi Gras Casino, Golden Gates Casino and Golden Gulch Casino.

They were acquired in February from Golden Gaming Inc. of Las Vegas.

Affinity said that after taking full control of the properties Oct. 31, it “has immediate plans to improve the access, layout, slot offering and food outlets of the properties and intends to begin construction on the remodeling efforts at the earliest opportunity.” These improvements include a new buffet.

The Black Hawk casinos outside Denver have more than 1,780 slot and video poker machines, table games, restaurants, bars and a 750-space parking garage.

Colorado licenses were also issued to the company’s key executives and its largest shareholders, Z Capital Partners LLC and SPH Investment LLC.

Affinity is known in Southern Nevada for owning the complex of three hotel-casinos at Primm on I-15 at the California border, for its Terrible’s hotel-casino at Paradise and Flamingo roads in Las Vegas and for its Terrible’s Town Casino & Bowling Center in Henderson.
