Attorney is just second in state to be named CLEL fellow

Local attorney Mark Ricciardi recently was selected for a national honor that only one other lawyer in Nevada has received.

Ricciardi, the founding and managing partner of the Las Vegas office of Fisher and Phillips LLP, was elected a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is the first management-side attorney from Nevada to be honored by the college.

CLEL began in 1995 as a nonprofit professional association to recognize labor and employment lawyers nationwide. It has since evolved to become a resource for attorneys to share knowledge.

“It is a real honor for me to be elected a fellow because I was nominated and elected, not just by peers, but by some of the most distinguished arbitrators and mediators in the field,” Ricciardi said. “Although the college requires that fellows possess the highest level of professional expertise and leadership, I’m pleased that it has chosen me also based on my commitment to fostering and furthering civility and respect between members of the bar.”

Ricciardi has represented hotels, casinos, financial institutions, manufacturers, government agencies and other large and small Southern Nevada businesses in labor and employment matters since 1987. He also has successfully tried jury and bench trials in wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, sex discrimination, age discrimination, national origin discrimination and wage and hour claims.

The only other Nevada attorney elected as a fellow to CLEL is Michael Dyer, who practices union law in Carson City.
