The inaugural Nevada’s Veteran Supporter of the Month award was given to the Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Foundation during dedication of the Nevada State Veterans Memorial. The award acknowledges the patriotic efforts of organizations that support the efforts of veterans, active military and their families.

Keller Williams Las Vegas Realty partnered with the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth to renovate housing sites and shelters. Work involved advanced landscaping, roof repairs, fixing shower and bathroom facilities, adding new flooring at several properties and providing new furniture where needed. This was in addition to improvements covering plumbing, flooring, painting, new fixtures, weed removal and general cleaning. Other participating partners included Homeservices Inc., Valley West Mortgage, Guild Mortgage, All Western Mortgage, SCC Mechanical Services, PRS Roofing, Supreme Lending, Carpets N More, Raysco, Red Carpet Moving Best Mattress, Access Services Group, and Goodfellows Shoeshine & Accessories.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck helped host a school carnival for Halle Hewetson Elementary. The carnival was part of a Safe Summer Nights program for students and families of Hewetson. Volunteers donated prizes and helped staff carnival games.

Nevada Donor Network received funding made possible by the Nevada New Markets Job Act Program, administered by the Department of Business and Industry. This allows the organ procurement organization to expand and renovate its campus at 2061 E. Sahara Ave.

McDonald’s sponsored the Hispanic Baccalaureate, a graduation event honoring 1,300 Hispanic students in Southern Nevada. The event included a presentation honoring approximately 50 Hispanic students who have received scholarships from the Ronald McDonald House Charities program. Since 2002, McDonald’s has contributed more than $1.7 million to the RMHC Scholarship Program.

Employees of Cox Las Vegas presented supplies for the rescue animals at the Animal Foundation. The items were purchased by Cox employees as part of the company’s third annual Cuddle & Snuggle Pet Needs Drive.

Impact Las Vegas, a nonprofit women’s group in its third grant year, awarded a $23,000 grant to Boys Town Nevada. The grant will be used to expand Boys Town’s Common Sense Parenting program, a six-session, 12-hour course that teaches practical, easy-to-learn techniques to build stronger family bonds.

Easter Seals Nevada raised $38,805.70 during its Easter Walk N’ Roll event at Lorenzi Park.

Aristocrat employees raised almost $34,000 for Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada through a combination of efforts, including the annual “Fast for February Initiative,” in which employees gave up a favorite food or activity over a 30-day period and donated the money saved. Included in the check presentation was Mitchell, whose wish was to go to Australia with his family.

At its golf tournament, the Nevada Wireless Association raised $10,000 to donate to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

Nevada State Bank donated $10,000 to Nevada HAND to support its mission to provide affordable, quality housing for seniors and families.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services gave Nevada $750,000 to get more eligible children enrolled in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

The Nevada Association of Realtors and its LeadershipNVAR Class of 2016 collected backpacks stocked with school supplies to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs.

McDonald’s donated $5,000 to the Injured Police Officers Fund.

At its 50th anniversary gala, the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada honored five Nevada dignitaries: Jan Jones Blackhurst was honored with the Community Equality Award; Paula Francis received the First Amendment, Freedom of the Press Award; Colin Seale received the Community Juvenile Justice Award and Sheila Leslie was recognized with the Liberty in Government Award. Richard Siegel received the Emily Wanderer Award, recognizing a lifelong career in public service and activism.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada recognized 13 Gold Award recipients for the 100-year anniversary of the Gold Award. The award challenges high school girls to change the world by designing and implementing creative strategies to help solve an issue of their choice. Honorees were Angela Silva, Stephanie Mevius, Sarah Stipek, Angelique Clark, Victoria Townsend, Sarah Bullock, Miranda Contreras, Quinn Weiner, Veronica Beauchamp, Gabriela Giancola, Ilonna Biondo, Samantha Schuetze and Jordan Whisler.

PT’s Entertainment Group, a division of Golden Entertainment Inc., raised $9,000 for Keep Memory Alive, in support of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, a nonprofit agency that provides aid to seniors, received a new 2016 Toyota Sienna minivan worth more than $28,000 from Toyota Financial Services.

KLAS-TV 8 News Now and Project 150 collected more than 22,000 pounds of supplies to help homeless high school students. Monetary donations totaled more than $3,000.

The Perry Foundation Endeavor Awards recognized the state’s top-performing health care facilities and health care professionals working in long-term/post-acute care. Southern Nevada honorees were:
