    • Duffy Leone is senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications in Las Vegas effective today. Marilyn Burrows, the company’s senior vice president and general manager in Las Vegas since 2009, has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Central Region, which covers Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska. Leone is currently senior vice president of operations for Cox’s recently unified California system. Earlier, he was senior vice president and general manager for Cox’s Orange Coast system, which includes the Orange County, Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes markets in California. “As Cox continues to evolve its operations to a more regional structure, it is necessary to have general managers in place with proven experience and the ability to execute on an increasingly larger scale,” Jill Campbell, senior vice president of operations at Cox, said in a statement. “Marilyn and Duffy have provided consistent leadership throughout their careers, and we are confident they will leverage their decades of cable and telecom expertise management expertise to drive outstanding results in their expanded roles.”

      Jeffrey A. Silver and Dominic P. Gentile of the law firm Gordon Silver have been selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Silver practices in the areas of administrative/regulatory law, gaming law and land use and zoning law, and is chairman of the firm’s administrative, gaming and government affairs department. Gentile was selected in the practice areas of both white-collar and non-white-collar criminal defense, and leads the firm’s government investigations and business crimes group.

    • Five staff members have joined the Mob Museum, which is scheduled to open Feb. 14. Victor McGuire is director of education, overseeing development of outreach programs. Allison Alexander is marketing manager, responsible for marketing operations, online and social media outreach, community events and promotions. Maria Sawyer is sales manager, in charge of special event and group sales, Ryan Marcus is information technology manager and Cortney Hagen is an accounting coordinator.

    • Jon Hager is the first executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange. Hager previously was the chief financial officer of the Public Employee Benefits Program.

    • Nevada Supreme Court has won top national honors in the American Bar Association’s 2011 Law Day Outstanding Activity Award competition for the state’s “Law Day Live” program, which focused on the rights of the accused to be represented by lawyers. The program was a high-tech, interactive Internet forum that emphasized the legacy of John Adams, second president of the United States.

    • The Las Vegas company 3V Enterprises has been cited for its work by MarCom Awards, following an international competition among 6,000 companies and individuals involved in the creation of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs. 3VE captured the top Platinum Award for the organization’s Global AquaTekture Visionary Awards trophy, and received a gold award for its book, International Award Winning Pools, Spas and Water Environments Edition II, which showcases winning projects from the 2010 competition. The company received an honorable mention for its GAVA winner’s certificate, which was designed by BRAND, a Las Vegas-based firm. The GAVA Awards recognize individuals and companies who have made strides in using water as a main feature in architecture.

    • Adam Bult is a shareholder in the Las Vegas office of the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck.

    • Design Workshop, a landscape architecture, land planning, urban design and strategic services firm, won two American Society of Landscape Architecture Colorado awards for its work on Cadence, a mixed-use community scheduled to be built in Henderson. The company won the Land Stewardship Award for Planning and the Merit Award for Planning. The Cadence community will be built on one of the country’s largest brownfield sites. At full build-out, the remediated land will be a site for a sustainable community of 40,000 residents and workers.

    • Derek Morrison is director of rooms for Platinum Hotel and Spa, overseeing front office, valet and housekeeping departments. He has been with Marcus Hotels & Resorts for more than 10 years.

    • The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada has broken ground on a $325,000 rehabilitation of the emergency shelter at the Lied Social Service Campus. The project will save a 12,500-square-foot building that serves as emergency homeless shelter and a medical clinic. Money this project was awarded by Nevada Women’s Philanthropy in a 2011 grant. General contractor is LF Harris and Co., with CentiMark applying the roof and Rakeman Plumbing completing the shower facilities.

    • Las Vegas cardiologists Stephen J. Portz and John B. Bedotto have joined HealthCare Partners Medical Group, a physician-run organization providing primary, specialty and urgent care in Southern Nevada. They now oversee HealthCare Partners Cardiology at the medical office building at Southern Hills Hospital.

    • Kathryn Hope is wine director at Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace, overseeing the restaurant’s wine collection of nearly 6,000 bottles. She previously was a sommelier at Shibuya at MGM Grand.
