Trial attorney Matthew Holland joined Cogburn Law Offices, a real estate, employment law and personal injury law firm. He previously worked as an intern for Justice Martin E. Johnstone of the Kentucky Supreme Court and an extern to trial Judge Thomas B. Wine.

Quincy Leigh Jaeger is an attorney at Alverson, Taylor, Mortensen and Sanders. Her practice focuses on professional liability and health care law. She also is licensed to practice in tribal courts.

Rick Beavin was promoted to desert region president for senior products at Humana. He is responsible for overseeing Humana’s Medicare HMO and PPO health plans, prescription drug plans, Medicare supplement policies and private fee-for-service health plans in Arizona and Nevada.

Lewis Roca Rothgerber was recognized among the top intellectual property firms in Nevada by Managing Intellectual Property in its 2014 IP Handbook. The firm is listed as a notable firm for intellectual property law. In addition, partners W. West Allen and Michael McCue were named 2014 “IP Stars.”

Brian Davie is a senior fellow at the Kenny Guinn Center for Policy Priorities. He retired after 28 years with the Legislative Counsel Bureau, a nonpartisan staff arm of the Nevada Legislature. He served as a senior and principal research analyst and spent 19 years managing the bureau’s Las Vegas office. Susan Clark-Johnson joined the board of directors of the Guinn Center. She previously worked as executive director of Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy and was chairman, publisher and CEO of the Reno Gazette-Journal from 1985 to 2000.

Patrick Gubbins is deputy superintendent of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. He previously worked as a branch chief for a nonrenewable resources and renewable energy program at the Bureau of Land Management in Reno.

Charlie Seemann, executive director of the Western Folklife Center for 16 years, retired.

Douglas Cohen, a shareholder at Fennemore Craig Jones Vargas, was appointed a federal court mediator for Inmate Section 1983 Complaints, a division of U.S. District Court. His law practice focuses on catastrophic personal injury, products liability, employment and medical malpractice.

Tara Jacquet was promoted to vice president of client services at Branch Benefits Consultants. She has been with the company for six years.

Christopher Handl is an interactive designer at B&P Advertising. He previously was design director for Lightspeed VT.

Travel industry advocates Sam Gilliland, of Sabre Corporation, and Rossi Ralenkotter, of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, were inducted into the U.S. Travel Hall of Leaders. Ralenkotter also won the 2014 Destination Marketing Hall of Fame Award by Destination Marketing Association International. The award was created to honor people who have changed the future of destination and travel marketing . Ralenkotter celebrated his 40th year at the LVCVA last year.

Chris Gibase is senior vice president and chief marketing officer, and Steve Schutte and Vince Schwartz are senior vice presidents of operations at Boyd Gaming. Gibase previously worked as senior vice president of operations. Gibase will direct all of Boyd Gaming’s marketing functions. Schutte will oversee Diamond Jo Casino, Diamond Jo Worth, Sam’s Town Shreveport and Sam’s Town Tunica. He most recently was senior vice president of operations at the Hard Rock Rock Casino near Cleveland, Ohio. Schwartz previously was vice president and general manager of the IP Casino Resort and Spa in Biloxi, Miss. Schwartz will be responsible for operating three properties – the IP, Treasure Chest and Amelia Belle. Boyd Gaming also expanded the responsibilities of Ted Bogich, who will be responsible for Blue Chip, Par-A-Dice, Kansas Star, Delta Downs and Evangeline Downs.

State Sen. Ruben Kihuen, Vivek Subramanian and Janet Quintero joined the Ramirez Group, Southern Nevada’s only Hispanic-owned public relations firm. Kihuen will focus on developing the company’s corporate and community relations. Subramanian will help with cultural communications and business outreach efforts. Quintero will concentrate on projects targeting youth and Hispanics.

North Las Vegas Acting Finance Director Darren Adair, Deputy Utilities Director Randall DeVaul and Acting Fire Chief Jeff Lytle were named permanent directors in their departments. Adair has more than 23 years of experience in public accounting, finance and SEC reporting. DeVaul has nearly 40 years of experience in utilities work, and Lytle has been in fire service for 26 years.
