Southwest Medical Associates has added six providers. Estrella Borromeo is an advanced-practice registered nurse specializing in adult medicine at the Tropicana Health Care Center, 4835 S. Durango Drive. Ralph Borromeo is an advanced-practice registered nurse specializing in adult medicine at the Lake Mead-Henderson Health Care Center, 270 W. Lake Mead Parkway. Dr. Darryl Fortson and nurse practitioner Rebecca Stevens specialize in adult medicine at the Tenaya Health Care Center, 2704 N. Tenaya Way. Monica Hall is a physician assistant specializing in adult medicine at the Summerlin Health Care Center, 10105 Banburry Cross Drive. Aleli Malonzo is a medical assistant working in the Care Plus division.

Lori Henrickson of Del E. Webb Middle School and Claritssa Sanchez of Canyon Springs High School were among educators from across the country invited to join President Barack Obama for the 2016 Great Educators From Across the Country event during National Teacher Appreciation Day. Henrickson is a science and leadership teacher as well as student council adviser. Sanchez is a social studies teacher and serves as a moderator of the Canyon Springs Student Organization of Latinos.

Marvin Rubin was one of two Realtors to receive the Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of Realtors. As one of NAR’s 535 Federal Political Coordinators for 2016, Rubin was recognized for his years of service and diligence in promoting real estate issues and his advocacy work with members of Nevada’s congressional delegation.

John McClenahan is the volunteer recipient of the Hospital Corporation of America’s 2015 Frist Humanitarian Award. The pediatric playroom volunteer at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas is known as “Dr. Magic” by the children for whom he performs. He has been volunteering in the pediatric ICU for 17 years.

Jerry Whitsett joined City National Bank’s Southern Nevada Advisory Board. Whitsett, who has been in Las Vegas for over 40 years, is a restaurant and retail business owner with establishments in Las Vegas and Seattle. He serves on the board of the Nevada Black Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the NAACP.

Lauren Carpenter is a senior associate in the Piercy Bowler Taylor & Kern audit department. She focuses primarily on 401(k) audits.

The Premier Community Award was presented at the Neighborhood Leadership Forum hosted by Henderson Neighborhood Services. Honorees were Black Mountain Ranch Property Owners, Green Valley Ranch Community Association, Lake Las Vegas Master Association, Montelago Village Association, Mountainside Homeowners Association, Newport Cove Condominium Unit-Owners Association, Seven Hills Master Association, Solera at Anthem Community Association and Sunridge at MacDonald Ranch Community Association.

The Wolff Co. and 901 Fremont, an affiliate of Downtown Project, are building a mixed-use, multifamily residential project at Fremont and Ninth streets. The proposed five-story, podium-style building will include 231 units and 15,000 square feet of retail space. The Korte Co. is the general contractor for the project.
