The State Bar of Nevada honored members at its annual meeting. Donald Campbell won the Presidential Award. He has practiced law in Nevada for more than 35 years. Brandi and Jasen Cassady of Cassady Law Offices were named Volunteers of the Year. Snell & Wilmer’s Karl Riley was named Young Lawyer of the Year. The bar awarded a posthumous Medal of Justice to Mitch Cobeaga and collectively to Nevada Legal Services, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Washoe Legal Services, the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program and Volunteer Attorneys of Rural Nevada.

The Nevada Justice Association gave Lifetime Achievement Awards to William Patterson “Pat” Cashill and Don Tingey. James Ohrenschall was named Consumer Advocate of the Year. Sean Claggett was named Trial Lawyer of the Year.

Richard Bryan received the Helldorado Hall of Fame Pioneer award. A former Nevada governor and U.S. Senator, Bryan focuses his practice on government relations at Fennemore Craig.

Cynthia Leung was chosen to serve as chief judge of the Las Vegas Municipal Court. Leung has presided over Las Vegas Municipal Court Department 1 since 2008, and takes over as chief judge from Department 5 Judge Cedric Kerns.

Robert Anderson, a partner with Snell & Wilmer, is the Henderson Chamber of Commerce chairman of the board.

Luis Ayon began his solo practice, Ayon Law, after being a partner at Maier Gutierrez Ayon. Maier Gutierrez Ayon is now Maier Gutierrez and Associates.

Bob Massi and his son, Robert Massi, opened Massi & Massi Attorneys at Law.

The 2017 Working Mother magazine’s 50 Best Law Firms for Women includes Fisher Phillips, Fox Rothschild, Holland & Hart, Latham & Watkins and Littler Mendelson.

Dr. David Orentlicher will join the UNLV Willliam S. Boyd School of Law as the Cobeaga Law Firm Professor of Law and co-director of the UNLV Health Law Program.
