UNLV Lee Business School Class of 2017 accounting students, led by professor Danny Siciliano, took top honors at the annual Institute of Management Accountants National Case Competition. The team, which included Marion Canestrier, Kevin Curry, Annie Bellorin, Andrea DeBrino, and Daniel Dinev, garnered $5,000 for its win. It was UNLV’s first time participating in the competition.

The Foundation for Recovery announced the honorees for the 2017 Gala for Recovery Awards. The Bob Gray Community Partner award went to Judge Cynthia Cruz and Steve Altig, Esq. The Steve Sigman Addiction Recovery Awareness award went to State Sen. Joseph Hardy and former Las Vegas City Councilman Steven Ross. The Excellence In Addiction Research and Education award went to Leah Brooks and Gregory Walls. The Robert Rehmar Addiction Professional award went to Jennifer Gratzke and Jeffrey Horn. The Brick award went to Don Kuhl. The Friend Of Recovery award went to Attorney General Adam Laxalt. The Volunteer of the Year award went to Kareem Abdul.

MountainView Hospital received the Mission: Lifeline Silver Receiving Quality Achievement award for implementing quality-improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. The hospital also received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
