CEDAR CITY, UTAH - February 22, 2012 – Brian Head Resort announced that they are extending their ski season from the planned closing date of April 8th to the new closing day of Sunday, April 15th. The decision came after recent late season snow storms at the southern Utah resort left more than 30 inches of fresh snow on the ski slopes. With more snow forecasted in the coming weeks Brian Head Resort expects excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions for the remainder of the season.
The extended ski season will give skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to enjoy an extra week of great late season skiing and riding. The month of April usually means warm temperatures, sunny bluebird days, and great late season lodging deals. The additional week will also allow guests to take advantage of the great late season weather and ski conditions during the April spring break weeks. Spring snow deals can be found at: http://iclautah.org/iclautah.org/Specials.html.
The recent snow brought Brian Head’s year to date snow accumulation to 171 inches, with a base of 48”. While some Utah and Colorado ski resorts struggled to open for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, Brian Head had a few early storms, in addition to snow making, to provide coverage on the signature runs. More snow is forecasted in the coming weeks and Brian Head is expected to maintain excellent ski conditions through the end of the 2012 season.
Brian Head Resort, a year-round mountain resort destination in Southwestern Utah’s Dixie National Forest, offers world class affordable skiing and snowboarding during the winter season. The resort offers Utah’s highest base elevation, with nine lifts serving 65 trails on 650 acres of skiable terrain spread across two peaks. Brian Head is just 45 minutes from Cedar City and I-15, just a three hour drive from Las Vegas and within a day’s drive from major cities in California, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. Situated among the stunning red rock vistas of Southern Utah, Brian Head offers the same great powder skiing that has made Utah ski resorts world famous, but with half the lift ticket price and none of the crowds.
