Young Lawyers Section of The State Bar of Nevada to Provide Free Legal Assistance to Senior Citizens

(LAS VEGAS, NEV.) – The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the State Bar of Nevada, in collaboration with Nevada Legal Services and Southern Nevada Senior Law Program, is hosting “Serving Seniors,” a free legal assistance clinic for senior citizens. The event is April 26, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the West Charleston Library Conference Room located at 6301 West Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas.
Attorneys from Gordon Silver and throughout the valley will be in attendance to provide senior citizens with legal information regarding basic estate planning tools like powers of attorney, wills and probate issues for small estates. Information will also be provided on elder law issues such as guardianship, social security, and other benefit programs.
“This is a great opportunity for senior citizens to receive valuable information to help protect themselves in the event of incapacity or ultimately death,” says Kristin Tyler, attorney at Gordon Silver, and chair of the event. “Part of the mission of the YLS is to provide charitable service to the community, which is what we aim to accomplish with the ‘Serving Seniors’ event.”

The purpose of Young Lawyers Section of The State Bar of Nevada is to provide opportunities for the assimilation of young lawyers, as well as providing a training ground for future leaders of the state bar. YLS membership is open to all attorneys who have been admitted in Nevada for less than five years, and/or are 36 years of age or younger. From mentor programs, to organizing charity events, to networking, to fighting to improve the image of attorneys in Southern Nevada, the YLS provides a wide array of activities for local attorneys.
