Advance Church, which began holding weekly worship experiences in January at 8665 W. Flamingo Rd., will be having a grand opening on Sunday, April 1 at 10 AM. After the worship experience, which will include a live band and relevant Bible teaching from Lead Pastor Ryan Lunceford, new visitors will be given a chance to win an iPad and 42” TV.
“We are so excited to finally let the community know we are here,” says Lunceford, who moved here with his wife, Kristen, and their three children in January 2011 to start the church out of their home in The Vistas. “It’s going to be a fun morning with excellent children’s programming for kids ages 0-5th grade, great music, an inspiring message, and plenty of food.”
The grand opening weekend kicks off with Advance’s ‘Party in the Parking Lot’ at Desert Breeze Plaza on Friday, March 30 at 5 PM. There will be a free BBQ, games for families with kids, and a skateboarding demo featuring Let it Roll. At 7 PM the church will open its doors for a free family movie on its 110” screen.
“We hope to set the tone from the very beginning that we do not exist for ourselves,” says Lunceford of his current congregation of approximately 65 people. “We are here for the community and want to love and serve those in it as practically and consistently as we can.”
Advance is a new church plant affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church and recently signed a three-year lease for a 6,500-square-foot spot on the Southwest corner of Flamingo and Durango. It’s committed to connecting people to Jesus and to others, developing them into their full potential, and mobilizing them into their world.
