HealthCare Partners Nevada Receives NCQA Certification in Utilization Management and Credentialing

LAS VEGAS (May 15, 2013) – HealthCare Partners Nevada, a leading physician-run network of primary, specialty and urgent care providers in Southern Nevada, announced today the company has received certification in utilization management and credentialing from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.

NCQA’s certification program included rigorous on- and off-site evaluation to measure the quality of HealthCare Partners’ utilization management and credentialing processes.

Utilization Management Certification focuses on consumer protection and customer service improvement. Standards recognize that organizations that apply for certification have open access networks and can improve service quality and utilize customized structures to meet purchaser needs. Credentialing Certification focuses on the systems used by health care organizations to assess the qualifications and practice history of medical professionals.

“Achieving Utilization Management/Credentialing Certification from NCQA demonstrates that HealthCare Partners Nevada has the systems, process and personnel in place to conduct utilization management and credentialing in accordance with the strictest quality standards,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane.

NCQA Certification is governed by the Standards for Certification in Utilization Management and the Standards for Certification in Credentialing, developed with the assistance of representatives from the Standards Committee, the Review Oversight Committee and input from other organizations.

“These certifications serve to illustrate HealthCare Partners’ commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality of care and service,” said Dr. Amir Bacchus, chief medical officer of HealthCare Partners Nevada. “As a patient-focused organization, we are constantly developing new ways to improve upon every aspect of the health care community. We would like to thank NCQA for its valuable role in promoting and recognizing high-quality care within our nation’s health care industry.”

NCQA has reviewed and certified HealthCare Partners Nevada’s credentialing and utilization management functions only. For complete details on the scope of this review, visit www.ncqa.org.
