The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Nevada recognized Ronna Timpa of Workplace ESL Solutions as one of 12 top business women at the 15th Annual Women of Distinction Awards (WODA) luncheon this month.
Timpa was named a Women of Distinction in the “Education” category.
According to NAWBO Southern Nevada President, Valerie Parker, “This annual luncheon marks the celebration of a community of smart, talented business women who make a difference in their fields while also contributing to the betterment of the Southern Nevada community.”
Timpa, who brought her young daughter with her to the awards luncheon and interacted with several other honorees, said she was overwhelmed, humbled and honored to be recognized among so many other phenomenal women and finalists .
“I am who I am because of my dad, Jack Nitzkin, who died on 10/10/10. This WODA award goes to him. I pass his values down to my 11-year-old daughter, Sarah, on a daily basis so she grows up to be a kind, humble, passionate and respectable woman.”
Timpa has since used contacts gained through the awards program to expand avenues of her business in the gaming and hospitality sector and said she will promote new possibilities for the year ahead. A current initiative includes Train the Trainer for Workplace ESL and translation & interpretation services.
WODA event sponsors included Caesars Entertainment, Southwest Gas, Wells Fargo and MGM Resorts International. KLAS Ch. 8’s Paula Francis served as this year’s master of ceremonies.
NAWBO Southern Nevada is an organization that educates, empowers and promotes women business owners and invites its members to experience success in all economic, political and social arenas. Learn more at www.nawbosnv.org.
