Paul “The Butcher” Vachon Publishes Meaty Wrestling Book for All to Enjoy on April 5.
East Hardwick, Vermont April 5, 2012- Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer Paul “The Butcher” Vachon is releasing an autobiography April 5 entitled Wrestling with the Past; Life In and Out of the Ring.
Best-selling author Howard Frank Mosher, winner of the New England Book Award, and recipient of the Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences says of the book, “Wrestling with the Past is a wonderful story. With honesty, humor, and insight, Paul has written a funny and heartfelt memoir of a time, a place, and a profession whose like will not be seen again. Wrestling with the Past is a fine memoir of a courageous, thoughtful, and entirely self-made man. I loved it.”
This memoir is a personal in-depth look into the early years of professional wrestling, dating to the late 1950’s, before televised coverage. Vachon explores his time as an in-ring performer for many of the old territories in the US and Canada, his years spent wrestling around the world, as well as his days in the back being a booker for the prominent Canadian promotion Gran Prix Wrestling.. Vachon is a great story teller, painting pictures with his writing over 260 pages. The book boasts 58 photos. It includes topics of discussion for both the novice and mature wrestling fan. It goes so far as to touch on the life and death of his daughter Luna as well as the legend and origins of Andre the Giant. It does not leave the polarizing figure of Vince McMahon untouched - both Sr. and Jr.
Vachon describes the role of women in his life. He had a torrid two year affair with an international singing star from Quebec. He taught his first wife how to wrestle when she was just out of the hospital after giving birth. Paul gives Van, his second wife, a great deal of credit for the success of Grand Prix Wrestling. His third wife is a former US Marine. Vachon also had a fourth wife, whom he married at the behest of Vince McMahon, Jr.
The book is now available in paperback at createspace.com/3830481. The book can also be ordered through Amazon.com, although that may take longer for delivery. An e-book compatible with Kindle readers from Amazon.com is available.
Paul will be available to the wrestling media for interviews, radio shows, and podcast, in English or en Francais. Any inquiries should be made towards the contact listed atop the page. An electronic copy of the manuscript will be made available upon request for reviewers and interviewers.
Paul will be selling and signing the book at the Cauliflower Alley Club’s annual gathering in Las Vegas, April16-18, and at the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame Induction weekend, in Amsterdam, New York, May 18 & 19..
