Las Vegas Resident Announces Membership in American Mensa

April 17, 2012, Las Vegas, NV – Matthew Wheeler recently joined the Southern Nevada Chapter of American Mensa. In order to be accepted into the High IQ Society, Matthew had to score in the top 2 percent on a standardized, accepted intelligence test.

“I’m thrilled to be a new member of American Mensa,” Matthew said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to be able to mingle among the top minds of the world and perhaps be part of something that can help create change in the world on some level. Being that the first purpose of the organization is to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity, this membership represents that potential and will hopefully provide me that opportunity.”

A long time resident of Las Vegas, some have been surprised to find that he has no college degree and only a few semesters of community college on his transcript. “Lack of finance and opportunity is the reason for not going back to college more than lack of interest,” Matthew stated, “but with or without school, I’ll surely spend the rest of my days absorbing as much information as I can possibly get my hands on.” Matthew is also currently unemployed and is actively seeking work.

To test for American Mensa Membership, Matthew simply logged on to the Southern Nevada Chapter Website (www.southernnevada.us.mensa.org) and contacted a local group administrator to find out the next date and location of testing in his area. Local groups often test on a monthly basis. Upcoming testing sessions can often be found in the calendar listings of your local paper.

Based in Arlington, TX, American Mensa is an organization for anyone who scores in the top 2 percent of the general population on one of more than 200 standardized intelligence tests. Mensa has more than 57,000 members in America and around 110,000 members in 100 countries all over the world.
