Pavement Professionals Present Future Road Strategies at 11th Annual Nevada Infrastructure Concrete Conference

The 11th Annual Nevada Infrastructure Concrete Conference (NICC) in Reno on Nov. 5, 2013 and Las Vegas on Nov. 7, 2013 will illuminate the new wave of road construction that does more with less gas tax revenues, reduces auto wear and tear and is kinder to the environment.
Keynote speaker is Jeremy Gregory, Research Scientist and Executive Director, Concrete Sustainability Hub at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Gregory's work in lifecycle cost analysis and economic performance has been compared to baseball's "Moneyball" approach for road pavement design and bidding techniques.

This year's Project Spotlight will be on Project Neon presented by Cole Mortensen, NDOT's Senior Project Manager. Project Neon is the state's largest-ever proposed road job, improving a 3.7-mile of Interstate 15 between Sahara Ave. and U.S. 95/515 Spaghetti Bowl. Expected to break ground next year, total cost is estimated to run between $1.3 and $1.8 billion.

The 2013 Project Success Story is the Moana Lane, Diverging Diamond Interchange in Reno featuring Shane Cocking, P.E.,NDOT; Doug Maloy, P.E., RTC, Washoe County; Kevin Linderman, Project Manager, Q&D; and Taylor Polan, Project Manager, Granite Construction, Inc.

NICC will help Nevadans build smart, efficient and resource-friendly communities and is the perfect networking venue for transportation policy leaders and companies involved with design, construction, quality assurance, testing or maintenance of roadways, pavements or bridges.
