America First Credit Union Creates Furlough Assistance Loan
for Federal Workers
The personal loan of up to $3,000, offers zero-percent interest rate for the first 30 days

RIVERDALE, Utah – October 10, 2013 – America First Credit Union is easing the burden of federal government employees affected by the shutdown, by introducing a special Furlough Assistance Loan. The personal loan of up to $3,000 will be made available to federal employees who have been furloughed due to the recent government shutdown.

“The government shutdown has created a ripple effect throughout our communities, and creating this special loan is just one of the ways we’re helping our existing and new members who are federal employees get through these difficult times,” said John B. Lund, America First president and CEO. “In fact, our credit union representatives are working hard to help all of our members who have been affected directly or indirectly by the shutdown.”

The Furlough Assistance Loan will be available one time only and offers terms up to seven months, with one month interest free. The loan has a zero-percent interest rate for the first 30 days, and then a 4.99 percent interest rate that begins to accrue on day 31. Applicants must provide proof of federal government employment by either producing a recent paystub not older than 30 days, military/government ID or a verified direct deposit from a federal employer to America First.

America First welcomes those individuals who are not currently members of the credit union, who may need assistance during this difficult time, to contact the credit union at 1-800-999-3961 to see if they can be of assistance.
