2012 Summer Day Shelter Opens for Men; Night Shelter Remains Open Year-Round

The Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Summer Day Shelter will open on
May 1, 2012 at 9a.m. Catholic Charities received a grant from Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition (SNRPC) and the Committee on Homelessness (CoH) to run the Summer Day Shelter.
The Summer Day Shelter can accommodate 100 men at one time. Men come and go throughout the day; Catholic Charities estimates serving 150-250 clients for shelter services on a daily basis. Showers, bathroom facilities and cold drinking water are available, and a community meal is provided in the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility at 10a.m. at no charge to the client. The Summer Day Shelter hours of operation are 9a.m.to 5p.m., seven days a week. It will close for the season on September 30, 2012.
The Night Shelter accommodates 160 men and remains open year-round from 7p.m. to 7a.m., seven days a week.
Both shelters are part of the Catholic Charities Donald W. Reynolds St. Vincent Plaza, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd, North.
Catholic Charities Outreach Case Managers work directly with the homeless men who stay in the day and night shelters, as well as with homeless people who are living on the street around the perimeter of the Catholic Charities campus. The Outreach Case Managers provide information about our Resident Empowerment Program and other programs available through Catholic Charities to encourage them to end their homeless life style.
