Arbor, aka The Go Vegas Dog, was 1 of 8 dogs selected nationwide to compete in Good Morning America’s Dog vs. Dog competition which aired this morning. Viewers were asked to submit videos of their dog doing an amazing trick so Arbor submitted a video of herself painting a work of art using her mouth to hold the brush.
Arbor’s video was paired up with another dog’s video Monday morning with America voting on which trick they liked best. The winner will be flown to New York to appear on GMA Friday where they will do their trick live along with the other 3 finalists.
Just a year ago Arbor was picked up as a stray on the Vegas streets and impounded at The Lied Animal Shelter. Her parents, Bryce and Jennifer Henderson of Henderson, NV adopted her and quickly noticed how driven she was to learn.
Basic obedience was so easy for her the Henderson’s began teaching her more advanced tricks that led to her being able to paint and make a margarita. She’s even a canine correspondent wearing a camera on her back, shooting videos of Vegas from a dog’s eye view. She has met the 2012 Miss America contestants, been on the Blackjack table at The Flamingo, and even bet on the Super Bowl. All of her videos are available for viewing online at http://www.youtube.com/user/GoVegasDog. She also manages her own Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GoVegasDog
Arbor’s personal pet project is to encourage people to adopt from their local shelter where some of her friends are still looking for forever homes. Her parents added, “Dogs at the shelter are just as good as any dog you purchase at a pet store.”
Official results of the Good Morning America contest have not been announced, but the last results on the website showed Arbor with 46% and the competitor with 54%. Even if Arbor does not win they are thrilled Arbor was selected enabling her to share her story with others. From a stray on the streets to the national stage…that’s something to bark about!
