Local Entrepreneur brings Athletic Excellence to Las Vegas Community
Jared Glover – a born and raised Las Vegan – can add Coach of the nation’s #1 High School Basketball Player, Shabazz Muhammad, to his expanding list of benchmark accomplishments, and at age 25 he’s just getting started.
Muhammad, a senior at Bishop Gorman, and the nation’s number one college recruit, recently announced he would attend and play for UCLA. Muhammad earned the MVP award at the 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game, and the 11th annual Jordan Brand Classic. Jared has been coaching Shabazz for two years from his Las Vegas gym, CrossFit 702.
As CrossFit 702 celebrates 2 years of operations this month, the gym is preparing to move to a new, expanded Summerlin location to accommodate the ever growing member base and make room for additional classes and programs. Glover has also launched 220 Sports Performance, a sports camp and one on one training program specifically for high school athletes, with partner and coach Eddy Gifford. Their first program was a 3-month training intensive for the Palo Verde High School Wrestling Team. The team recently placed 3rd in the State Championships with two wrestlers winning the state championship and one placing 3rd in their respective weight classes. Eddy is also a Las Vegas native whose wrestling accomplishments include a top ten national ranking and honors at two different weight classes as a US All American at Fresno State. 220 Sports Performance will be conducting wrestling camps open to all middle school and high school athletes throughout July and August and offers one on one and team programs for basketball and tennis.
Glover will be launching CrossFit 702’s unique Boot Camp style program from the new gym, the only CrossFit Boot Camp in Las Vegas. This high intensity interval training is specifically designed to accelerate weight loss while introducing participants to all the basic elements of CrossFit. CrossFit 702’s Exceleration Boot Camp will compliment the gym’s other programs, which include CrossFit, Power Lifting, Olympic Weightlifting and Endurance, with daily classes for all ages and athletic abilities.
Jared Glover is a graduate of Bonanza High School, and earned degrees in both Finance and Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno. He holds several accreditations including: United States Association of Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, and multiple CrossFit Certifications including Power Lifting and Olympic Lifting. He trained the semi-professional Las Vegas Blackjacks rugby team during the 2009-2010 season helping them to secure a national championship. He continues to train top high school and collegiate athletes from the Las Vegas area, coaches classes daily at his gym in Summerlin and maintains the goal of creating the Fittest Community in Las Vegas.
