Local student a finalist for national scholarship

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI - May 11, 2014 – Lillian Ross of Las Vegas, NV, is a finalist to win a $1,500 college scholarship through the SuretyBonds.com Small Business Success Student Scholarship Program. Ross was chosen as one of 10 finalists from a pool of more than 500 applicants. To apply, Ross submitted an essay about how her experience with small business has shaped her into the person she is today. Ross chose to write about her experience with A #1 Document Services, LLC, which is a notary public document service business that her parents own.

SuretyBonds.com is a nationwide surety bond producer that helps business professionals from a variety of industries comply with local licensing laws. Because many of these professionals are small business owners, SuretyBonds.com understands the value these individuals add not only to the economy but also to their communities. To show appreciation, the company is paying it forward with a nationwide scholarship program to reward students who have personal experience with small business.

When asked to explain the motivation behind the scholarship program, SuretyBonds.com founder and CEO Josh Kayser said, “Ninety-nine percent of our clients can be classified as small business owners. Working with them every day — combined with being a small business owner myself — has given me a unique perspective of the struggles job creators in this country face every day. Running a business is tough, and it’s only been getting tougher these past few years. We’re blessed to be in a position of growth, so this scholarship program is our way of giving back to those who are on the ground floor, creating jobs, and fighting the good fight right along with us.”

The SuretyBonds.com scholarship committee narrowed the field down to 10 finalists, and the public’s vote via Facebook will determine three winners who will each receive a $1,500 scholarship to be used toward furthering their education. Individuals can vote once per day through May 31 at http://woobox.com/cbaxpu.
