Nathaniel Jones Park at Mountain’s Edge on June 23

WHY: The Nathaniel Jones Park grand opening comes at a time when few other outdoor and lifestyle amenities are being added given the economic climate in Southern Nevada. The southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley has had one of the lowest park-to-population ratios.
The addition of Nathaniel Jones Park follows developer Focus Property Group’s philosophy to offer Mountain’s Edge residents many avenues for fitness and outdoor recreation with a commitment to protecting the natural desert environment and incorporating its beauty. Mountain’s Edge is still one of the best-selling master planned communities in the country.
The Summer Splash Grand Opening includes water slides, Squirt Gun Fight Tent, scavenger hunt (for mining-related items tying into the area’s past), petting zoo, pony rides, deejay, dancing, arts and crafts, booths, food vendors and other activities highlighting Nathaniel Jones Park.
WHEN: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012
• 4 p.m. – Brief ceremony to officially open park, culminating with speakers
setting off four confetti cannons
