Las Vegas is now home to 15 AAA Five Diamond resorts and restaurants, more than any other city in the country, AAA Travel announced Monday.

Aria and Mandarin Oriental are the latest additions to the list, bringing the number of AAA Five Diamond resorts in the valley to 10.

Aria and Mandarin Oriental received the prestigious award less than a year after opening. Both opened at MGM Resorts International’s $8.5 billion CityCenter project last December.

The CityCenter hotels join repeat winners Wynn Las Vegas, Encore, Palazzo, Venetian, Skylofts at MGM Grand, Four Seasons, Bellagio and the shuttered Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas, which will soon be taken over by Dolce Hotels & Resorts.

The Bellagio celebrated a milestone this year with its 10th consecutive Five Diamond award, while the Four Seasons now has 12 in a row.

All of Nevada’s restaurants are repeat recipients of the Five Diamond award. The winners include Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace, Picasso and Le Cirque at Bellagio, Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand and Alex at Wynn Las Vegas.

“At a time when tourism has taken a hit, Las Vegas has elevated itself to become the number one city for AAA Five Diamond properties. The fact that this happened during a recession shows just how resilient the city can be,” AAA Nevada spokesperson Michael Geeser said.

Nationally, no restaurants were added to AAA’s Five Diamond list and seven were removed, six of which have closed.

AAA Five Diamond winners were released Monday for the AAA territory that includes Northern California, Utah and Nevada. The nationwide list will be released in January.
