What is your hobby/sport?

My main sport is running, but I have also done martial arts, surfing, cycling and dancing. I have been running on a more regular basis less than one year ago. I trained for the “Reno Tahoe Odyssey” relay race with 11 others runners on our team. I enjoy the energy, endurance and strength achieved by exercising.

What are the health benefits to your hobby/sport?

Stress reduction, mental clarity, better quality sleep and improved stamina.

What gear is essential?

The gear I use must be comfortable, quick dry, breathable material.

What tips do you have when you’ve “hit the wall” and need motivation to continue?

Focus on the end goal, reduce intensity/duration if fatigue sets in (get rest when needed), keep hydrated and keep a healthy diet.

What are the health risks you keep an eye out for?

Sports injuries can occur when running or cycling (knee injuries), sparring (contact injuries). Early recognition of signs and symptoms are key.

Any other activities you’d like to try?

I would like to try paddleboarding and ziplining as the next sports on my list.

What’s the best diet/nutrition advice you ever received?

The best advice I have received is not to change my diet right before an athletic competition or race.

What’s your guilty-pleasure food?

I love hamburgers! :)

What did you eat for breakfast today?

I had a breakfast drink today, but usually it is an egg white omelet or oatmeal.
